Piecing Basics - Log Cabin

Let's get started with quilting.  You'll learn about cutting safely and accurately, proper pressing, and finding the perfect seam allowance.  We'll also discuss things like pinning, starch and alternatives, pre-washing, storage, and more!

For our project, we'll be making Log Cabin Blocks! The Log Cabin block is a beginner friendly black great for practicing consistent seam allowance!

Class supplies: sewing machine, basic sewing supplies (pins, seam ripper, thread, bobbins, scissors, ruler, cutting mat, rotary cutter), 3 light fat quarters, and 3 dark fat quarters

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Must have basic knowledge on sewing and use of your machine. This is not a sewing machine class, and you will need to understand how to operate your machine prior to this class. We will do our best to make sure that your machine is running and set up correctly, and will be available to answer questions, but we will not be teaching you how to use your machine.
Requirements: Minimum of two contrasting fabrics are needed. To make your block more interesting, make it scrappy using 3 light fat quarters and 3 dark fat quarters! This pattern calls for a jelly roll, but we will not be using jelly rolls in class and will be practicing cutting our own strips using the Stripology Squared ruler. Please do not bring in any precuts for this class.
